Senior Research Scientist (f/m)
to support our Ion Channel team at the headquarters in Hamburg. Reporting to the Research Leader Ion Channels, you will design and execute in vitro pharmacological workflows using our electrophysiological and fluorescence-based HTS and profiling platforms in close interaction with medicinal chemists to identify and progress new ion channel lead molecules.
Your Primary Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for the day-to-day matrix leadership and management of project teams (interfacing externally with clients and internally with Medicinal Chemistry and Biology), providing strong guidance and expertise to facilitate the attainment of project goals, thereby achieving high customer satisfaction levels.
Be responsible for the management of project budgets by tracking cost, resource, reagents and revenue, together with Evotec’s Controlling unit.
Liaise with line/functional managers to ensure continuous training and allocation of resource, providing flexible, competent and responsive scientific output in very good quality and speed according to the project needs.
Act as a competent and credible partner to our clients, consistently providing high quality data and analyses on time, allowing them to arrive at their decision points in a timely and effective manner.
Manage laboratory personnel, both in direct line and matrix settings.
Support the preparation and review of scientific proposals for clients in order to generate more business opportunities in the drug discovery field; working with our Business Developers effectively represent Evotec`s Ion Channel capabilities and experience to potential new clients.
Your Ideal Qualification
A Ph.D. in Biology or a relevant discipline and a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral experience, preferably in a Pharma, Biotech, or a CRO setting.
Significant manual or automated patch clamp experience, ideally gained within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry as well as prior experience in Fluorescence-based ion channel assay development.
Ability to advise and guide staff and colleagues in a decisive, but supportive and encouraging fashion.
Excellent team spirit to interact effectively across functional, geographic and cultural boundaries within the Company and externally, coupled with self-starting ability and capability of working with a wide degree of autonomy and independence.
Demonstrated strong analytical and commercial skills to translating scientific ideas into feasible projects and revenue generating opportunities.
Proven experience with project management and ability to work on multiple projects to produce results against challenging timelines.
Dynamic personality with high levels of drive, enthusiasm and commitment and ability to cope with pressure.
Fluency in written and spoken English, German advantageous
