PhD students "Neuroinflammation and mucosal immunology"

The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry is one of the leading research institutes within the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology and biomedicine. With its 7 scientific departments, 25 research groups, and a staff of around 850 people, the institute is one of the largest institutes within the Max Planck Society.

PhD students (m/f)

The research group “Neuroinflammation and mucosal immunology” invites applications for a PhD student position.
Field of work:
The focus of the research group is to understand how the intestinal microbes control autoimmune responses targeted against central nervous system. The intestine is home to trillions of microorganisms which are beneficial for health. However, recent investigations reveal a far broader role of intestinal microbes in many physiological and pathological conditions.  Our goal is to gain comprehensive insights into the processes elicited by the intestinal microbes during autoimmunity. We will employ cutting-edge technologies such as germ free mice, microbiome sequencing, flow cytometry and various immunological assays in this research project.
