Scientist Upstream Development (m/f)
At the site in Jülich, Alvotech focuses on process development for its biosimilar pipeline, including cell line development, upstream and downstream processing as well as analytics. You will be part of the upstream development team and take responsibility for development, characterization and validation of manufacturing processes (mainly, but not limited to CHO-S). This includes also activities in media development, scale-up and transfer.
Most important tasks of the job:
Plan, coordinate, execute and evaluate cell culture experiments at different scales (15 ml up to 50 l)
Take part in process characterization and validation projects
Contribute to a successful scale-up and transfer of developed processes
Develop appropriate scale-down models in cooperation with the USP team of the manufacturing site in Iceland
Actively communicate with and support other departments (cell line development, DSP and analytics)
Supervision of lab technicians
Compilation of QA compliant development reports, SOPs and technology transfer documents as needed
Qualification of lab equipment
Presentation of relevant data in internal as well as external meetings
You will be part of the upstream development team and report directly to the department head.
PhD in biochemistry, biotechnology, biology or related with relevant hands-on experience (preferably from industry) in the abovementioned areas and expert knowledge in one of the fields (media/feed development, scale-up, HTP screening, bioreactor control)
Sound knowledge of bioreactor design, control strategies and scale-up principles
Very good scientific understanding of impact of process changes on product quality (mAb)
Experienced in high throughput screening and application of DoE and QbD principles, ideally worked with Ambr15
Broad scientific knowledge and ability to think interdisciplinary
Good presentation and writing skills
very good command of English, German highly beneficial
First management and leadership experience, critical thinking
