Life Scientist as Postdoc - Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (m/w)
The Institute of Applied Biotechnology (IAB) at the University of Applied Sciences Biberach offers an exciting
Postdoctoral position (m/w) in pharmaceutical biotechnology
The postdoctoral project will be performed in close cooperation with an industrial partner and focus on the application of microRNAs in cell line engineering to improve biopharmaceutical protein production. Furthermore, downstream cellular pathways induced by microRNAs will be functionally characterized using avariety of molecular assays.
MicroRNAs are small, non-coding RNAs which regulate a large number of genes and thereby influence multiple cellular pathways. The project is based on a previously performed a high content screen in CHO production cells, where we identified a huge number of microRNAs with novel functions in cellular processes like apoptosis, necrosis, cell viability and protein production (FischerJ Biotechnol, 2013, 168(4), 589-600 / Fischer Biotech J, 2014, 9(10) / Fischer RNA biology, 2015, 12(3):238-247 / Fischer Biotech Bioeng 05/2015). Specific microRNAs will now be transferred into biopharmaceutical application in close cooperation with an industrial partner.
The experimental work will cover techniques from cell- and molecular biology like eukaryotic cell culture, transient and stable transfections, microarray analysis, next generation sequencing, luciferase assays, immunoblotting, quantitative flow cytometry, qRT-PCR etc. The publication of results is part of the job as well as the supervision of doctoral students.
Applicants should be highly motivated with a recently acquired doctoral degree in life sciences or related areas with strong interests in the above-described central topic. In addition to being an enthusiastic scientist, we are looking for candidates who will work in a team to support and further establish research at the institute.
We offer an inspiring and interdisciplinary research environment with state of the art equipped laboratories and excellent expertise in bioprocess- and cell line development. The Institute of Applied Biotechnology (IAB) at the University of Applied Sciences Biberach is located at the faculty of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and is focusing its research topics on the development and optimization of production processes for biopharmaceuticals in close cooperation with industrial partners.
The postdoctoral position is available immediately funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) as a full (100%) E13 position for 1,5 years. Applications of women are specifically invited.
