PhD position in Data integration for key gene regulation events

In the field of “Bioinformatics Data integration for key gene regulation events” the research group of Professor Miguel Andrade offers the following PhD project:

Text and data mining to analyse the genomics literature

The goal of the project is to create novel text and data mining methods to automatically identify major and domain-specific discoveries in the biomedical literature. The size of the biomedical literature, which contains millions of articles, prevents from retrieving optimally such discoveries either manually or using existing services. Yet, their automatic retrieval may impact positively the work of many scientists by facilitating for example scientific writing, bibliographic searches, or peer reviews. A special focus will be to analyse the genomics literature for which examples of major discoveries could be found in relation for example to the human Genome project, the Encode project, or NGS technologies.
