PhD studentship: Identification of the role of Cyp2c44- and sEH-derived lipids in lymphangiogenesis and tumour metastasis.

This project is a scholarship within the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Graduiertenkolleg and will focus on the roles of specific tumour enriched fatty acid epoxides and diols on lymphangiogenesis and their link to metastasis. Previous data from murine tumour models will be backed up with in vitro studies (e.g. thoracic duct sprouting assay) aimed at determining the molecular mechanisms involved. Depending on the results obtained, MS-based proteomic and metabolomic studies will be included.

The Else Kröner-Fresenius Research Training Group “Eicosanoid and sphingolipid pathways in inflammation, cancer and vascular diseases” is an international research training group at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and is funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung.  The focus of this research training group is on intensifying the understanding of the physiological and pathophysiological roles of eicosanoids and sphingolipids in inflammatory processes, cancer and vascular diseases.
The Else Kröner-Fresenius Research Training Group is embedded in the Graduate Centre FIRST (Frankfurt International Research School for Translational Biomedicine) of the Goethe Graduate Academy (GRADE).   FIRST provides postgraduate education in all aspects of translationals biomedicine with a focus on the processes involved in drug research and development.
