Our group focuses on the characterization of virulence- and fitness traits of pathogenic Escherichia coli . We employ comparative and functional genomics incl. next-generation sequencing based approaches for gene expression profiling in pathogenic bacteria.

The successful applicant will characterize factors leading to strain-specific differences in polyketide expression, investigate the role of putative regulators of polyketide expression and study the integration of polyketide biosynthesis into global regulatory networks of E. coli.
The applicant should have a M.Sc./Diploma and a strong background either in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or infection biology. In addition, basic knowledge in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing and interest in bacterial pathogenesis is beneficial.

The position is available from November 2015, for 3 years initially, with the possibility of extension. Deadline for applications is October 11th, 2015.
