PhD Position in Biochemistry: Molecular Mechanisms of Cdk4 Inhibitor Resistance

Drug resistance is one of the biggest challenges in today’s cancer treatment. An initially effective drug loses its efficacy due to the selection of drug resistant cell populations, leading to malignant relapse and the lack of treatment options. Up until today, the comprehensive identification of drug resistance has been elusive. To address this issue, we employ a broad range of cutting edge technologies, e.g. CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome wide screens, CRISPR/Cas9/rAAV-mediated gene editing, microscopy, proteomics, cell and molecular biology. To intensify our efforts, we are seeking 2 outstanding and ambitious PhD candidates with a strong background in cell and molecular biology that employ a fundamental interest in logical, systematic and functional analysis of various experimental situations. This multidisciplinary setting, in conjunction with our commitment to mentoring, provides an excellent training opportunity in a young, visionary, international and dynamic research team with interests in fundamental and translational science. The positions can be filled as early as January 2016, set to last 4 years and are directly funded by the Institute of Biochemistry II.
