Structure and Mechanism of the Antigen Translocation Complex”

The Institute of Biochemistry (www.biochem.uni-frankfurt.de) of Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, offers a PhD position (E13 TV-G-U, 50 - 65%) for a 3-year period.

Our project aims at a central machinery in adaptive immunity, which delivers proteasomal degradation products into the ER for loading of MHC class I molecules. These processes play a fundamental role in the immune recognition and escape strategies of virally or malignantly transformed cells.

Your part will be to investigate mechanistic and structural aspects of multi-subunit complexes by diverse methods such as cryo-EM, X-ray analysis and single-molecule techniques. You will work in a lively, international, and forefront-equipped research environment, embedded in the Life Science Campus Riedberg, Goethe University.

For this challenging project, we expect a candidate with strong interest in cell and structural biology. By the way, you should have a Master degree in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or life sciences.
