PhD Position in Immunology and Cell Biology, TV-L: E13/65% (starting October 1st., 2016)

 Universität Lübeck  23562 Luebeck
For a research project in the field of cell-derived nanoparticles we are seeking a PhD student with a strong interest for cell biology and immunology for the duration of 3 years. The project involves molecular-biological and immunological techniques (cell cultures, protein chemistry, FACS, ELISA, laser-microdissection, immunohistochemistry, RNAseq, Next-Generation-Sequencing). The main topic within the project will be to elucidate therapeutic effects of cell-derived nanoparticles in experimental mouse models of infections.
We offer excellent research facilities and a motivating work atmosphere. Since the project is part of the International Research Training Group 1911, “Immunoregulation of Inflammation in Allergy and Infection“ it provides many possibilities for collaborations in various fields. The program is organized by the University of Lübeck, the Leibniz Research Center Borstel, the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and promotes systematic research cooperation between the German and the US institutions. The research program is supplemented by a structured qualification concept, which includes jointly held courses, a yearly retreat, an international symposium, a mandatory 6 -12 months lab visit of the US partner lab and individualized educational as well as mentoring programs.
Candidates should be highly motivated in solving scientific questions of modern immunobiology. They must hold a masters degree in biology, biochemistry, medicine or a related discipline and should be interested in cell-biological, molecular-biological and immunological approaches.
The University of Luebeck seeks to increase the percentage of female scientists and encourages female candidates to apply.  In cases of similar qualification, competence and specific achievements women will be considered in equal terms within the legal framework.  Handicapped candidates with equal qualification will be given preference.
