               Plant-Microbe Interaction Biology / Plant Immune Signaling
 
The position is available for three years (EG 13 TV-L (50%) on the German pay scale; the appointment level reflecting qualifications and experience. We are looking to fill the position at the earliest possible date.
 
The department headed by Prof. Volker Lipka is interested in the molecular dissection of mechanisms that control activation of defense in the plant model Arabidopsis thaliana (e.g. Petutschnig et al., 2014, New Phytol. 204(4):955-67) and the analysis of executive defense mechanisms that contribute to resistance against fungal pathogens (e.g. Fuchs et al. 2016, Plant Cell 28: 130-145). We are looking for a highly motivated new team member interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms that control cell death execution and containment.
 
The successful applicant will conduct experiments using a wide range of methods in biochemistry and cell biology such as pathogen infection experiments, genetic analyses, next generation sequencing, molecular cloning and mutagenesis, plant transformation, biochemical techniques for characterization of proteins, subcellular fractionation and cell biological methods such as confocal laser scanning microscopy.
 
Applicants are expected to hold a very good Master/Diploma degree in Biology or Biochemistry and to be highly proficient in spoken and written English. We are looking for a highly motivated new team member with a strong interest in plant biology. Basic experience in plant molecular biology or cell biology is a plus. Applicants should submit a letter of motivation, a resume with publication list, and names and addresses of three references.
