The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is one of the leading research universities in Europe. The University is committed to the highest international standards of excellence in research and teaching.
The interdisciplinary and interfaculty DFG Research Training Group 1721 offers positions to pursue doctoral projects in the areas of structural protein science, advanced imaging methods and structure-function-system analysis of macromolecular complexes.
The GRK1721 is a unique and competitive training and research network to study structure and mechanisms of “complex macromolecular systems” in genome biology. GRK1721 integrates state of the art structural and functional biology approaches with an emphasis on the further development of structural biology “hybrid methods”. We offer challenging and interdisciplinary PhD projects and an innovative credit based training and mentoring program in the following research areas:
Cryo-electron microscopy, x-ray crystallography, structural and cellular biochemistry, structural proteomics, hybrid methods, single-molecule analysis, chemical and synthetic biology, cell biology, super-resolution microscopy, solid-state NMR, biophysical chemistry
Applicants to the PhD program are required to hold a German university Diploma or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, biotechnology or in a related discipline. If you do not possess a German university Diploma, your Master's degree must be such that it can be regarded as equivalent to a German Diploma.
