The Experimental Dermatology and Immunobiology of the Skin unit (headed by Prof. Dr. Karin Loser) has a long-standing interest in the analysis of systemic autoimmune diseases, cutaneous sterile inflammatory disorders, and the progression of skin cancer. Inflammatory skin diseases or the development of skin cancer are controlled by the immune system and the regulation of immune responses is particularly important for the pathophysiology of skin disorders, their perpetuation as well as the development of novel therapeutic options.

We are looking for a scientist to contribute in a project aiming at characterizing the role of TNF signaling during the pathophysiology of skin inflammation. Therefore, appropriate mouse models with cutaneous overexpression of TNF family members will be used and the results obtained in mice shall be validated in samples from patients. Moreover, the project focuses on phenotypically and functionally analyzing immune cell subsets involved in disease progression or in modulating tissue integrity.

Your area of responsibility:
  • phentoypic and functional characterization of immune responses in inflammatory skin diseases in vivo
  • animal experiments
  • intravital imaging to analyze the migration of immune cells
  • multicolor flow cytometry and FACS-based cell sorting
The prerequisites for this appointment are:
  • a M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine or related fields

  • a high interest in inflammation research
  • experience in performing animal experiments or handling laboratory animals (FELASA certificate) would be helpful
  • knowledge in multicolor flow cytometry or in vivo imaging are preferable
