We are interested in understanding the pathophysiology and immunology of neuroinflammatory diseases (especially Multiple Sclerosis). Specifically we will study the interaction between neurons and glia cells and T cells invading the central nervous system in Multiple Sclerosis and related animal models.

The applicants will work within the Neuroimmunology lab as part of the newly established research group of PD Dr. Meyer zu Hörste funded by an “NRW-Rückkehrstipendium”. The projects will be closely associated with a trans-regional Collaborative Research Center CRC128 Multiple Sclerosis (Centers: Münster, Mainz, Munich). This unique situation ensures high quality research and optimal networking with the leading groups in this field all over Germany and internationally. The position is available from January 1st 2016 and is initially restricted to three years with a salary group of TV-L E13 65%. Extensions will be possible depending on the progress of the projects.

Our lab has a long-standing expertise in a broad range of immunological approaches including genetically engineered mouse models, multi-color flow cytometry, T cell and brain slice culture, functional assays, and a strong translational research focus working with human immune cells.

The candidate should possess a Diploma (Master) in Biology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry or related fields. We expect a strong interest in Immunology and / or Neurobiology. Previous experience with animal experimentation, flow cytometry, immunological assays or cell biology techniques will be helpful.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with a clear dedication to research, excellent written and verbal communication skills and profound English knowledge. The applicant should be able to work independently, but also to be a team player and be willing to contribute to the team’s success.
