PhD student - elucidating the function of 14-3-3 proteins in plants

Our research group at the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP), University of Tübingen, Germany, is looking for a highly motivated PhD student. The lab aims at elucidating the function of 14-3-3 proteins in plants. 14-3-3 Dimers are known to interact with diverse phosphorylated target proteins throughout eukaryotes.

Studies with a focus on individual target proteins have unequivocally demonstrated 14-3-3s to be the crucial factors modifying the client’s activity state upon phosphorylation. We currently tackle the analysis of selected putative 14-3-3 client proteins involved in crucial signaling processes, such as floral transition and phototropic responses. In each case the challenge is to analyze the physiological significance as well as the functional consequence of 14-3-3 association in vivo .
