Postdoc position
“Light-activated membrane organization and receptor clustering”
The Institute of Biochemistry ( of Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, offers a Postdoc position (E13 TV-G-U, 100%) for a three-year period.
Our project aims at a light-triggered control of the lateral membrane organization of receptors in live mammalian cells via novel optochemical and optogenetic tools. Cell surface receptors play a key role in multiple cellular processes and many diseases have been linked to a plethora of receptor dysfunctions. Whereas many scientific teams investigate most steps in receptor signaling, their dynamics in the plasma membrane is poorly understood. It is thus necessary to conceive new techniques to study the lateral receptor trafficking and clustering with highest spatiotemporal resolution.

Your part will be to trigger clustering by light, followed by diverse analysis methods such as fluorescence and single molecule imaging. You will work in a lively, international, and forefront-equipped research environment, embedded in the Life Science Campus Riedberg, Goethe University.

For this challenging project, we expect a candidate with strong interest in live cell imaging and light-triggered processes burning to develop new approaches for light-triggered manipulation in living cells. By the way, you should have a PhD in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or life sciences.

Women are specifically invited to apply within the frame of the equal opportunity program.
The Goethe University is committed to give preference to handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications. The limitation of the contract is based upon the regulations of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz” in conjunction with the “Hessischen Hochschulgesetz”.
