Core Unit Systems Medicine
Scientists / Postdocs in FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS/BIOINFORMATICS
 
Applications are invited for several Scientist / Postdoc positions to perform independent and collaborative research in the fields of functional genomics of transcriptional regulation.
 
Research can include methods and software development, single-cell analysis approaches in cancer and immunology, and genome-wide analysis of nucleic acids-protein interactions. Applicants are expected to excel by substantial background and hands-on expertise in modern genomics wet-lab approaches and/or the analysis of deep sequencing and “omics” data.
The Systems Medicine Unit of the Julius-Maximilians University is a new, already well-connected node of international genome research networks such as the European Sequencing and Genotyping Infrastructure, and provides a highly dynamic research environment and excellent career opportunities.
Future research of the Systems Medicine Unit will focus on the analysis of transcriptional (de-) regulation in metabolism, cancer and during infection using worldwide unique biobank material from the local and other collaborating University clinics (see references: Papenfort K, et al. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2015 Feb 17;112(7):E766-75; Beuschlein F, et al. N Engl J Med. 2014 Mar 13;370(11):1019-28.; Feldmann R, et al. Nucleic Acids Res. 2013 Apr 1;41(6):3518-31.).
 
Applicants should have a master/diploma/PhD degree, and a strong background in genomics and/or bioinformatics/computational biology. Additional knowledge in physiology, microbiology, and biochemistry would be beneficial. Salary will be based on the pay scale for the public sector in Germany (TV-L) and comply with qualifications. Preference will be given to handicapped persons in case of otherwise equal aptitude. The University aims at increasing the proportion of female employees. The positions are initially for up to two years with scheduled and funded possibility for extension.
