The ISEF (www.isef.uni-luebeck.de) is a central part of UzL’s research program ‘‘Infection and Inflammation‘‘. It runs the International Research Training Group (IRTG) 1911: „Immunoregulation of inflammation in allergy and infection‘‘ and contributes to the Research Training Group (RTG) 1727: ‘‘Modulation of autoimmunity‘‘, the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) / Transregio 654: ‘‘Plasticity and sleep‘‘ and the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) 303: ‘‘Pemphigoid diseases -- molecular pathways and their therapeutic potential‘‘. We seek an outstanding and highly interactive scientist who has the potential to develop an internationally recognized research agenda. We expect that this agenda complements and strongly sustains the existing focus on complement research at the ISEF and strengthens the research program ‘‘Infection and inflammation’’ at the UzL and the Excellence Cluster. Preferentially, the applicant has a strong background in human complement research with a particular emphasis on complement-mediated regulation of T cell responses.

In individual cases, continuation of the employment as a tenured W3 Professor is possible without additional advertisement of the position as stated in §62 (2,3) of the University Law of Schleswig-Holstein (HSG). According to the HSG, the medical faculty members of the universities of Kiel and Lübeck are obliged to work closely together by matching their research priorities and to co-operate with the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein. The state expects newly appointed scientists to act accordingly.

The UzL aims at increasing the diversity of its faculty. In particular, we encourage application of candidates with migration background. Disabled candidates with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
