The II. Medizinische Klinik (head of department: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Roland M. Schmid) Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technische Universität München, Research Group Dr. Reichert invites candidates for a
Postdoctorial position in Cancer Genetics/Biology (f/m)
We are deploying genetic mouse models and primary organoid culture (mouse/human) to study molecular and translational aspects of pancreatic cancer. One focus in the past few years has been to investigate the role of the transcriptional factor Prrx1 in pancreatic carcinogenesis. We utilized system biology approaches to understand transcriptional programs shared in pancreatic development, inflammation and cancer formation (Genes and Development 2013, PMID: 23355395). In addition, we gained insight into specific aspects of the metastatic cascade related to colonization and outgrowth (Genes and Development 2016, PMID: 26773005). The lab pioneered primary cell culture in three-dimensional matrices in order to study epithelial integrity and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (Nature Protocols 2013, PMID: 23787893; CSHP 2015, PMID: 26034301). More recently, we initiated an organoid tissue bank from pancreatic cancer patients to address diagnostic/therapeutic questions as well as to uncover molecular mechanisms underlying tumor development, metastatic spread and therapy resistance in a human setting.
We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled scientist (f/m) to carry out original research. The successful candidate (f/m) will be responsive and reactive to the needs of her/his projects and is expected to work independently. The position provides the opportunity to interact with other members of the research team and to collaborate with members of the Medical and Biological Faculty of TUM. The Postdoc (f/m) will also be expected to be involved in the supervision of PhD students and undergraduates and to pass on skills and knowledge to other team members and visitors.
The salary conforms with the German General Labor Accord for scientists (TV-L). Initially, it will be an fixed-term work- contract for 2 years. Handicapped applicants with equal qualification will be hired preferentially.
We are seeking self-motivated, bright and independent individuals with interests in Cancer Research, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Mouse Genetics. Previous experience working with mice is an asset. Education: PhD, MD or similar qualification with several years of scientific experience.
