Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (translational immune-oncology)


is available in the Research Division of the Department of  Otorhinolaryngology, University Hospital Essen, West German Cancer Center Essen, Germany.
 
Job details:
Salary: according to German TV-L, Tarifvertrag Länder E13/E14 and according to qualification and experience
To be filled by: February 1, 2015
Duration of contract: temporary, initially for 3 years. Possible extension according to the maximum employment duration as given by laws regarding scientific fixed-term contracts (Wissensschaftszeitvertragsgesetz). The pay grade classification depends on the personal and collective legal requirements.
 
In our group we investigate the immunological tumor-host interaction with a focus on head and neck cancer. Projects integrate complex immunological in vitro models, murine tumor models and analysis of patient material. The candidate should lead and further develop the research theme “human tissue analysis and biomarker development”. The project involves close collaboration with pathlogists, head and neck surgeons, study nurses and tumor documentation.
 
Job description:
  • Planning and management of patient-orientated studies on onco-immunological prognostic and / or predictive biomarkers
  • Planning and management of prospective longitudinal studies to analyze the immune response in patients with head and neck cancer
  • Supervision of doctoral students, clinical research fellows and technicians
  • Conceiving of project grant applications
  • Design of study protocols and ethic committee applications
 
Candidate qualifications:
  • At least basic knowledge in the fields of immunology and oncology
  • Experience with databases
  • Experience with biostatistical analysis of experimental data
  • Documented experience in human tissue analysis (optional: also murine tissue analysis), preferably in the field of tumor pathology
