Postdoctoral Position
In the field of Immunology and Epithelial Transport Physiology
Area of Research
The research will focus on the role of the microbiota and dysbiosis on chronic kidney disease as well as cardiovascular disease. The projects aim to define the role of dysbiosis and the inflammasome in progression of these systemic diseases. The group leader has transitioned from Yale University to Erlangen. Hence, the projects will be pursued in close collaboration with investigators from Yale University. In addition, the group leader is shared grant holder and the coordinator of the newly established DAAD thematic network funded with 1 Million Euro entitled TRENAL (duration 2015 – 2019). This research network is being established between Erlangen University, Yale University and University College London (UCL). Hence, the qualified postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to spend fully funded time as part of the fellowship at Yale University and attend research meetings held at Yale or UCL within the network.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in life sciences or biology with a strong background in molecular biology, immunology or transport physiology. The candidate should be capable of interdisciplinary work, analytical thinking, the capability to develop and optimize new methods as well as excellent communication and team player skills are indispensable.

The place of work is Erlangen, Germany.
