Postdoc Position in infection biology and innate immunity
The department Regulation in Infection Biology (Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier) at the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig (Germany) is offering a Postdoc Position to investigate mechanisms of interaction between Streptococcus pyogenes and the human host.

Area of research

The Helmholtz department “Regulation in Infection Biology” studies molecular and cellular mechanisms of regulation in processes of infection and immunity in Gram-positive bacterial pathogens. The group has recently focused on the mechanisms of interaction between Streptococcus pyogenes and innate immune cells. In this regard, the project will involve the investigation of mechanisms involved in the recognition of the bacterial pathogen by human host cells and will include the study of membrane vesicles in this respect. The position is announced within the frame of a recently funded European ERA-NET project, Infect-ERA Haplo-Infect.

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bacteriology and genetics for several years. Particularly prior expertise in the fields of host/pathogen interaction, innate immunity and/or cellular microbiology.
