Postdoctoral position: Physical activity and prevention of type 2 diabetes -
Basic principles and mechanisms of response

Our lab is interested in the molcular mechanisms responsible for the therapeutic strength of exercise with the focus on biochemical and cellular adaptations. The position is part of a translational project integrating mechanistic studies in primary skeletal muscle cells, comprehensive metabolomics/transcriptomics/proteomics analyses of human plasma and cell culture samples, and exercise training studies in humans.

Your profile:
Join our team if you are highly motivated to investigate molecular principles of metabolic regulation and if you are fascinated by the biochemistry of exercise. You can work independently but enjoy to be part of a team. You have a master’s degree in Biochemistry or a related field, hold a PhD or equivalent, and you have a strong background in any of the following techniques: transcriptomics/metabolomics/proteomics, RNA interference, cellular bioenergetics, molecular and cellular imaging. Expertise in primary human cell culture systems is preferred.

What we can offer:
Our multidisciplinary lab is part of several national and international networks including the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD), a DFG-funded Sino-German Metabolomics/Lipidomics platform, and the international graduate school GRK1302 Cancer and Diabetes. The Postdoctoral position is funded by the BMBF according to 100 % TVL-13.

The suggested starting date is December 1st, 2014.
