3 PhD Fellowships - Parasite Infections in Berlin

The DFG Research Training Group 2046 “Parasite Infections: From Experimental Models to Natural Systems” offers three cutting edge PhD research projects on “One Health“ aspects of Parasite Infections.

PhD students will study different parasite infections from the biological, medical, and translational perspectives. In an interdisciplinary approach, graduates will be trained in molecular approaches, cellular interactions and organismic studies on key parasites of model organisms, free-ranging animals and humans.

Offered PhD projects:
Project title (1): Glycomics in toxoplasmosis –  Toxoplasma gondii  glycans in innate immune recognition and their diagnostic potential
Supervisor (1): Prof. Dr. Peter H. Seeberger, Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces

Project title (2): Reduced susceptibility to antimalarial drugs and accelerated selection of drug resistance due to variant red blood cells
Supervisor (2): Prof. Dr. med. Frank P. Mockenhaupt, Charité

Project title (3):  Giardia duodenalis  – Dendritic cell interaction and intestinal barrier function
Supervisors (3): Dr. Anton Aebischer, Robert Koch Institute, and Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Jörg-Dieter Schulzke, Charité
