Genetic Analysis of Extracellular Vesicle Budding using Light and Electron Microscopy on C. elegans embryos

The Membrane laboratory of Dr. Wehman at the Rudolf Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine located at the University of Würzburg in Germany offers a PhD position
The main focus of the lab is using genetic and imaging approaches to determine the molecular mechanisms of extracellular vesicle budding in the developing embryo of the nematode worm C. elegans. The funded position will focus on the role of novel proteins and lipids in regulating plasma membrane budding.

Highly motivated candidates with a Masters degree in biological sciences and an interest in cell biology, genetics, and/or developmental biology are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants must be fluent in English (both written and spoken) and be able to work both independently as well as part of an international team. Previous experience with genetic model organisms, time-lapse imaging, electron microscopy, immunofluorescence, or molecular biology is preferred. 
The PhD student will be part of the Graduate School of Life Sciences. Salary is according to the collective agreement (TV-L). Disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualifications.
