MSCA Early Stage Researcher Bioinformatics

The European Industrial Doctorate (EID) program within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) trains Early-Stage Researchers (ESR) through collaborative research between academic institutions and companies. The EID project CropStrenghten offers high quality individual PhD projects jointly organized between the University of Potsdam (Germany), Enza Zaden (The Netherlands), and BioAtlantis (Ireland).
CropStrengthen aims to develop and validate technologies and products for use in counteracting abiotic and oxidative stresses in Arabidopsis thaliana and crops (tomato, pepper, cucumber, and others) using innovative genetics, genomics, computational, and molecular biology approaches. Focus will be given on the genetic and molecular mechanisms that contribute to acclimation to abiotic stresses (e.g. molecular priming).
The ESR will be enrolled as PhD student in the University of Potsdam. The ESR will be employed by the University of Potsdam and will be seconded for 50% of the time in one or two of the industrial partners.
Besides the thorough technical and scientific training, the ESR will receive high quality training in project management, entrepreneurship, oral and written communication skills and intellectual property protection.
The PhD student will be appointed by the University of Potsdam under a three-year employment contract. The Monthly Living Allowance, Mobility Allowance and Family Allowance as standard Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship for Early Stage Researchers will be paid to the researcher in monthly instalments. Local tax and social security regulations will apply. Gender equality will be promoted in the recruitment.

The applicants should have MSc in plant biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, computational biology, or related fields, and advanced bioinformatics knowledge.
The applicants must not have a PhD degree and their research experience should be less than 4 years by the time of their recruitment.
The candidates can be of any nationality (European or non European), but should obey the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rules: they should not have resided (work or study) for more than one year in the past three years in the country where they will be employed (Germany).
