PhD position in chromatin biology/epigenetics

Diese Stellenanzeige ist abgelaufen. Finden Sie hier zahlreiche ähnliche Jobs.

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student at the Department of Physiological Chemistry, Adolf-Butenandt-Institute, LMU Munich.
Our group is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that link chromatin structure to controlled gene expression. We particularly focus on questions related to chromatin remodellers. The new team member will have the opportunity to study how the metabolic state of cells feeds back into the regulation of remodeller activities, using yeast as a model system. We use a muti-disciplinary approach, combining in vivo approaches such as yeast genetics, genomics and confocal microscopy, with detailed in vitro biochemical, biophysical and computational techniques.
We seek a highly motivated student (m/f) who shares our enthusiasm for science and research. Candidates should have a masters degree or equivalent in biochemistry, biology, biophysics or related subject as well as very good verbal and written English skills. Previous experience in the chromatin field as well as in yeast genetics, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and/or confocal microscopy will be beneficial.
The Butenandt Institute of the LMU provides a dynamic, interactive and international scientific environment with a major research focus on chromatin biology. The Department of Physiological Chemistry is located within the biomedical research campus in München-Martinsried and covers a wide variety of disciplines, including genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and structural biology. For our scientists we provide excellent scientific education and support. Besides weekly meetings to discuss the progress of the project, PhD students and postdocs present their work twice a year in departmental lab meetings. Furthermore, students will be supported by a thesis advisory committee once a year. The position is initially limited to 1 year and can be extended thereafter.
Enquiries and applications should be sent electronically to Michaela Smolle by March 6, 2015. Please send a single pdf file citing reference number 15/01-D, that includes your CV, brief summary of your previous work experience, a short statement why you chose to apply for this position, contact information for two referees and possible start dates (the position is available immediately).
