PhD position in neurobiology, stem cell research

A PhD position is available at the Institute of Reconstructive Neurobiology (Director: Prof. Oliver Brüstle), University of Bonn Medical School, Germany.
The work will be carried out in the newly funded independent Junior Research Group of Dr. Julia Ladewig (PhD)
Interfacing fundamental stem cell biology and translational research, the project will employ changes associated with developmental disorders of the human cortex using 2D and 3D cortical culture systems generated from human induced pluripotent stem cells and neurons generated by direct cell conversion.
The position should start as soon as possible and is for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of an extension.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented graduate, capable of independent working with a strong interest in neurobiology, cortical development, stem cell research, biotechnology and disease modeling. Experience with cell culture techniques, microscopy, biochemistry or molecular biology techniques is advantageous. Candidates should hold a diploma or a master’s degree in biology, molecular biomedicine, biotechnology, or a related subject.
We offer comprehensive training in an innovative field of science, a highly stimulating environment and state-of-the-art laboratories featuring the latest cell reprogramming, neural differentiation and bioengineering technologies.
The Institute of Reconstructive Neurobiology is affiliated with LIFE&BRAIN, a research and development platform located on the University of Bonn biomedical campus.
The PhD position can be integrated into the THEME PhD Program of the University of Bonn Medical School. We offer supportive mentoring and a well-equipped laboratory. Successful candidates will be awarded a PhD.
