PhD Scholarship

for the PhD project entitled

The role of Wnt signaling and epithelial-to-mesenchymal-transition-like changes in therapy resistance of malignant gliomas

The project will be coordinated by the Department of Neurosurgery (PD Dr. J. Maciaczyk) at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf.

We invite applications from highly qualified students with a background in the life sciences (biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, etc.) and a strong interest in basic and translational cancer research. Applicants must hold a Master of Science or diploma degree. Scholarships are provided according to the standards of the DFG (German Research Foundation) and are available for 2 years at the first instance.  

We are specifically looking for a PhD candidate researcher who has a specific interest in molecular methods in cancer research and stem cell biology. Previous experience in the molecular biological techniques would be highly desirable but is not a requirement. The project involves the possibility for intensive transatlantic collaboration with short-term visits of the laboratory of our collaborators at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (USA) (U. Kahlert/Ch. Eberhardt)
