The successful candidate will work on the integration of this genome-wide dataset with additional large functional –omics data sets that have been obtained by collaboration partners and consortia projects. This will provide valuable insights into the mechanisms and understanding of craniofacial disease and development. The successful candidate will be involved in the most up-to-date genomics technologies, computational approaches, methods development and cutting edge research.
The Institute of Human Genetics at the University Medical School Bonn offers an excellent multidisciplinary team-oriented research environment with individual development opportunities, supported by collaborations with other departments of the university and leading national / international research groups.
In today’s busy research environment, we are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented graduate candidate, who is motivated to explore the interface of computation and biology, and committed to knowledge integration at a high level in both computational and biological fields. Preferably the successful candidate holds a diploma or a master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics or a related subject. Fluency in English (required) and German (beneficial) language as well as good skills in using computer programs (MS Office, MS Windows, R) are required. Experience in molecular genetics techniques (DNA/RNA work, NGS, PCR) and applied data analysis and database usage are beneficial.
The PhD position will be integrated into the PhD Program of the University of Bonn Medical School and the Graduate School of Clinical and Population Sciences. We offer supportive mentoring and a well-equipped laboratory. Successful candidates will be awarded a PhD.
