The Department II of Internal Medicine, Divisions of Nephrology, Rheumatology, Diabetes and General Internal Medicine is seeking applications for a part-time (25 h/week)
 
PhD position (f/m)
 
to be employed under a limited-time for 3 years (third party funded) The position is immediately available.
 
He/She will be working in an inspiring research environment in our internationally renowned and well connected group with access to the infrastructure and core facilities of the two large research centers CECAD and CMMC.
 
Research overview
Our group pursues translational projects in the field of proteinuric kidney disease. One focus is on the pathophysiology of preeclampsia and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for this common disease of human pregnancy. In the past, we have successfully transferred novel results and observations on the role of angiogenic factors in preeclampsia from bench-to-bedside and vice versa.
 
We provide an exciting project at the intersections of basic research and clinical application. The project has an emphasis on protein biochemistry with the aim of immediate clinical implementation and will be supported by the group of Prof. G. Schwarz (Dpt. of Biochemistry, UoC).
 
What we look for:
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated biologist, biochemist, or biotechnology M.Sc. or equivalent with a proven record of excellent previous work. Experience in protein biochemistry and cell biology is welcome but not a fixed requirement, as is experience in working with mice colonies.
 
Your salary will be based on TV-L E13.
