Research fellow
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
 
with bioinformatic background skilled in gene regulatory network analysis of time-lapsed RNA Sequencing data. The ERC-funded position ideally starts at 1 June 2016 and is a 3 years appointment with the option to be extended. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Balancing family and career is an important issue. The post is basically suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment.
Tasks: Ideally, the successful candidate will analyze large RNA Sequencing datasets of differentiating human neurons by network inference algorithms to reveal the underlying gene regulatory networks of neurogenesis as well as participate in our interdisciplinary approach covering stem cell research, directed neuronal differentiation and neuronal disease modeling.
Requirements: A suitable candidate must hold a university and a PhD degree in computational biology, mathematics, physics, systems biology or a similar field with formal training in programming, statistics and multivariate data analysis. Excellent programming skills and experience with the analysis and interpretation of large scale RNA Sequencing data are crucial. The candidate should have a good overview of the corresponding literature and be interested in an interdisciplinary and interactive work environment in the area of stem cell research, directed neuronal differentiation and gene regulatory network analysis. Communication in English is essential since we offer an international working atmosphere at the CRTD and are participating in international projects.
