The Department of Hematology/Oncology, Medical Center, has on opening for one Post-Doc (Ph.D., graduate-) position (E13 TV-L) for two years. Thereafter, further extension of the contract or a permanent position will be considered.
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated applicants holding, or about to obtain, a PhD degree. The applicants should possess a strong research background in molecular and cell biology, previous experience in cancer research will be an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in one or more of the following areas: Analysis of cell signaling (protein biochemistry or flow-cytometry based) and in vivo analysis of hematopoiesis or leukemia (using mouse models in hematology, oncology or immunology, as animal work will be mandatory).
The applicant needs to hold at least one of the following degrees: diploma or masters in biological sciences or medical degree.
The research project investigates molecular mechanisms of oncogenic signaling in human leukemia and myeloproliferative neoplasia including functional analysis of relevant signaling molecules in mouse models. This theme will be expected to connect with major “on campus” subjects as signal transduction, inflammation and immunology.
The candidate will be integrated in a friendly team of highly motivated scientists and physicians and will be working in an internationally visible and fully equipped laboratory. Several national and international collaborations are ongoing.
Several research projects of our laboratory are participating in multicenter research programs funded by the Else-Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS), the BMBF and projects within the local Collaborative Research Cluster (Sonderforschungsbereich; SFB854).
