Job vacancy for a Scientist - Genomics (cancer biology)
 
TRON (http://www.tron-mainz.de/) is a transdisciplinary, not-for-profit research organization seeking to diagnosis and treat unmet medical needs through innovative biomarkers and immunotherapies. TRON is expanding a multidisciplinary department with experience in biostatistics, genomics, bioinformatics, biotechnology, next-generation sequencing (NGS), immunology, and molecular biology.  We are searching for a Scientist - Genomics (cancer biology) to focus on the development and implementation of new and commercial next generation sequencing related methods.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Development and implementation of innovative next generation sequencing related methods for challenging samples
  • Optimization of in-house sample preparation pipelines
  • Implementation of next generation sequencing protocols on automated liquid handling platforms
  • Tight interactions with bioinformatics, molecular biology, immunology  and clinical teams
  • Apply findings in both R&D and clinical projects for biomarkers and immunotherapy’s
 
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated proficiency with next generation sequencing applications
  • Significant experience with, and understanding, of general molecular biology methods
  • Experience with laboratory automation is desired
  • Affinity with NGS data analysis is preferred but not required
  • Self-starter who works effectively in an agile start-up environment 
  • Enthusiastic team player
 
EDUCATION 
  • Degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in biological sciences
