PhD Position (E 13 TV-L, 50%) Institute of Technical Biocatalysis
Topic: "Characterization and kinetic modeling of a novel, convergent enzymatic cascade to formation of lactones with in situ polymerization".
In this cascade system the most important reaction parameters, as well as the kinetic and thermodynamic effects, which affect the productivity of the synthesis of lactones and its oligomers/polymers, will be systematically and quantitatively evaluated. The knowledge gained in those steps will be transferred to the development of reactor concepts enabling synthesis of oligomers/polymers. This project is financially supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
An outstanding M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering; practical experience in biocatalysis (isolated enzymes or whole cells), multi-enzymatic systems, enzymatic polymerization, design of experiments (DoE) enzyme kinetics and reaction engineering; ability to work in an international team; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; high motivation; an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills; fluency in English – written and oral.
