At TU Dresden the SFB 912 – HAEC (Highly Adaptive Energy Efficient Computing) offers as of 1st July 2015 the following position (subject to budget approval) for  a
 
Research Fellow
 (Subject to personal qualification employee is remunerated according to salary group up to E 14 TV-L)
 
The contract is limited 18 months, with an option for extension to 48 months. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD or habilitation thesis).
Tasks: The research will be directed towards enabling real-time capable wireless communication systems of the next generation. In this regard specific focus will be on the study of reliable communication with very small latency constraints by means of error correction coding and signal processing. This becomes important in ultra-high speed computer communication as well as the so called Tactile Internet. Your research tasks will include the analysis and development of digital baseband algorithms, channel coding schemes and decoding algorithms regarding low latency, energy efficiency, and reliability. This will include analytic derivations of algorithms and performance measures, modelling, theoretical and simulation based performance evaluation. The results shall be published at international conferences and distinguished journals. Moreover, collaboration with project partners form industry and academia is expected.
The Vodafone chair will provide the opportunity to gain valuable project experience, to work with excellent scientists in an international team on a versatile range of tasks and to connect to academia as well as to industry partners in a dynamic environment.
Requirements: We are looking for a highly qualified PostDoc or PhD student having an excellent university degree in electrical engineering, information technology, or a related field such as physics or mathematics. We expect enthusiasm for science and a strong interest to pursue theoretical research. The candidate should have a background in signal processing and digital communications and should have a profound knowledge in information and communication theory. Moreover, we expect excellent mathematical skills to analyze and solve complex tasks in the field of wireless communications. An interest in also implementing results for validation in a lab setup would be additionally advantageous. For the PostDoc position we additionally expect a proven capacity for high-quality research in the broad area of communication and information theory. Moreover, we expect the following: An independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills; fluency in English - written and oral. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
