At TU Dresden, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering the Chair of Circuit Design and Network Theory (CCN) offers a position starting from 1st of October 2015, subject to granted funds, as a

Research Fellow
in the field of fast adaptive integrated circuit design
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group
up to E 14 TV-L)

limited for 3 Years. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD or habilitation thesis).
The position is within the project cluster FAST (fast actuators sensors and transceivers, www.fast-zwanzig20.de/EN/). FAST is coordinated by CCN and includes more than 80 partners (most of them from industry) and has a budget of around 60 Mill. €. It is aimed at revolutionizing several application areas by real-time performances.
Tasks: The main goal is the development of fast high-efficient digital-to-analogue converters. Most recent semiconductor technologies are available to realize the chips. The CAD-programme Cadence is used for simulations and chip layout. The resolution of the converter should be improved by real-time calibration methods. A novel and promising adaptive approach is used to massively lower the power consumption by deactivation of not used bits. Due to the high innovation potential, the project is well suitable for a PhD-thesis. The position provides an excellent platform for interdisciplinary cooperation.
Requirements: Excellent to good university degree (master´s, Dipl.-Ing.) or PhD degree in electrical engineering, communications, information engineering or computer science; knowledge in circuit design; independent and flexible working attitude; innovative and analytical thinking; strong commitment; communicative team-player; good English; and scientific curiosity. Knowledge in the following areas is advantageous: integrated analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, high frequency engineering, communications as well as measurement techniques. German language skills are helpful.
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.
Interested candidates are requested to submit concise application material, including CV and copy of transcripts, until 16.06.2015 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies) preferably per e-mail in one PDF-file to frank.ellinger@tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive electronically signed and encrypted data.) or to TU Dresden, Fakultät Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, Institut für Grundlagen der Elektrotechnik und Elektronik, Professur für Schaltungstechnik und Netzwerktheorie, Herrn Prof. F. Ellinger, 01062 Dresden. Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you.
