At TU Dresden the SFB 912 – HAEC (Highly Adaptive Energy Efficient Computing) offers as of 1st July 2015 the following position (subject to budget approval)for a
Research Fellow(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The contract is limited to 18 months, with an option for extension to 48 months. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Tasks: The research will be directed towards the study of the digital baseband design for energy-efficient ultra high-speed wireless board-to-board computer communication. Special focus will be on the study of modulation and baseband algorithms for receivers with very coarse analog-to-digital conversion, including information theoretic studies on the achievable data rate and optimal signaling for such communication systems.
Your research tasks will include the investigation of modulation, signaling, and receiver algorithms for wireless communication systems with coarse analog-to-digital conversion based on an information theoretic study. Moreover, the derived concepts should be displayed and connected to other HAEC-subprojects based on demonstrators. In addition, participation in HAEC researcher meetings and exchange with other HAEC subprojects is expected. The results shall be published at international conferences and distinguished journals. The researcher will receive the opportunity to gain valuable project experience, to work with excellent scientists in an international team on a versatile range of tasks and connect to academia as well as to industry partners.
Requirements: We are looking for a highly qualified researcher having a very good university degree (Master’s degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering with a focus on information and communication theory. Outstanding applicants with a strong theoretical background and an interest in implementation are solicited. We expect: high grades in Information Theory, Signal Processing and Digital Communications; excellent mathematical skills to analyze and solve complex tasks in the field of wireless communications; experience with theoretical work in the master/diploma thesis; a strong interest to pursue theoretical research and/or implementation of results in a lab setup; outstanding academic performance in previous studies and some research experience. Moreover, we expect the following: an independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills; fluency in English - written and oral. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
