 Technische Universität Dresden  01069 Dresden
At TU Dresden, the Cluster of Excellence ‘Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden’ (cfaed) offers, subject to granted funds, a fixed-term position as
Research Fellow
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
Research area:
Modeling and characterization organic crystalline transistors
cfaed Investigators:
Dr.-Ing. Martin Claus / Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Schröter
cfaed research path:
Organic/Polymer Path
The position is a 3 years appointment and starts asap. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Position and Requirements
The group “Device Modeling of Emerging Electronics” in the cluster of excellence “Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden” (cfaed) aims at evaluating and comparing emergent transistor technologies (such as CNTFET, NWFETs and OFETs) regarding their potentials in various applications.
The group is hosted by the Chair of Electron Devices and Integrated Circuits (CEDIC) at the TU Dresden. CEDIC has been an internationally recognized group in the area of device modeling for high-frequency applications, with significant contributions in particular to the theoretical understanding and exploitation of the physical limits of bipolar transistors and the development of related models and tools for circuit design.
We are currently seeking a talented PhD student in the field of crystalline organic transistors (OFETs) und their applications in high-frequency circuits. The work is part of a DFG funded research project and comprises the modeling, simulation and characterization of crystalline OFETs. The goal of the project is to evaluate based on TCAD simulations and experiments the potential of organic crystalline FETs for analog high-frequency applications and to demonstrate the potential in circuits. In addition, a suitable compact model for the design and simulation of circuits shall be developed and verified based on experimental data.
We aim at attracting the best talent in the respective research fields and look for: an outstanding university degree (master or equivalent) in electrical engineering, physics or related field of physical sciences; excellent knowledge of semiconductor device physics; ideally prior experience with compact modeling and TCAD simulation and circuit design, previous experience in organic electronics is beneficial; an independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; very good interpersonal and communication skills; in particular, the ability to effectively work in collaborative research efforts; strong motivation and interest to join one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary research clusters; fluency in English - written and oral.
What we offer
You will join a team of enthusiastic scientists who pursue creatively their individual research agenda inspired by the cluster’s innovative approach and support. Your PhD research will be fostered by the cfaed philosophy to promote young researchers which includes: access to state of the art research of leading academic institutes; individual supervision by a Thesis Advisory Committee; possibility to earn (seed) grants of up to € 10.000; promotion of gender equality and family-friendly work environment.
Informal enquiries can be submitted to Dr. Martin Claus, Tel +49 (351) 463 33053; Email: martin.claus@tu-dresden.de
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.
Application Procedure
Your application (in English only) should include: motivation letter, CV, copy of degree certificate, transcript of grades (i.e. the official list of coursework including your grades) and proof of English language skills.
Complete applications should be submitted preferably by e-mail as a single PDF-document quoting the reference number PhD15-10 in the subject header to recruiting.cfaed@tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive electronically signed and encrypted data) or alternatively by post to: TU Dresden, cfaed, Frau Dr. Grünberg, 01062 Dresden, Germany. The closing date for applications is 23.11.2015 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies). Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you. Expenses incurred in attending interviews cannot be reimbursed.
About cfaed
