At TU Dresden, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Principles of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the Chair of Circuit Design and Network Theory offers a position starting from 1st of August 2016 as a

Research Fellow
in the field of high-frequency integrated circuit design
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

to the end of the project for 36 months. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD or habilitation thesis). The position is within the project 3D-LOMMID funded by German Research Foundation (DFG). The challenges are: Novel receiver concepts with SILOs (Switched Injection-Locked Oscillators) for high data rates at very low power consumption. The SILO concept enables high gain at high frequencies. This topic is well-suited for a PhD thesis. We use the most advanced BiCMOS technologies. The project is in the frame of DFG priority program 1655 aiming at 100 Gbit/s wireless data communication. The TU Dresden is one of the eleven German excellence universities. The „Silicon Saxony“ around Dresden is the biggest microelectronic centre in Europe.
Tasks: The main goal of the project is the design of an integrated SILO receiver chip using high-frequency integrated circuit design methods. The CAD program Cadence is used for simulations and chip layout. All analog and mixed-signal circuits have to be verified by measurements. You will publish your scientific results and attend international conferences. The position provides an excellent platform for interdisciplinary cooperation and to improve your scientific knowledge.
Requirements: Excellent to good university degree (Master’s or Dipl.-Ing.) in electrical engineering, communications or information engineering; PhD degree if applicable; knowledge in circuit design; independent and flexible working attitude; innovative and analytical thinking; strong commitment, communicative team player; good English; scientific curiosity. Knowledge in the following areas is advantageous: integrated analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, high-frequency engineering, communications as well as measurement techniques. German language skills are helpful.
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.
Interested candidates are requested to submit concise application material, including CV and copy of transcripts, until 17.05.2016 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies) preferably by e-mail in one PDF file to frank.ellinger@tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive electronically signed and encrypted data.) or to TU Dresden, Fakultät Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, Institut für Grundlagen der Elektrotechnik und Elektronik, Professur für Schaltungstechnik und Netzwerktheorie, Herrn Prof. F. Ellinger, 01062 Dresden. Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you. Expenses incurred in attending interviews cannot be reimbursed.
