Research Fellow
in the field of Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit Design
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
 
until 31.07.2019 (the end of the project). The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
The position is within the project PROSECCO (PROduct SECurity and Communication) funded by SAB (Sächsische Aufbaubank). The challenges are novel transceiver concepts for a RFID system at 60 GHz with the particular feature of the frequency range to integrate antennas on the chip. This topic is well-suited for a PhD thesis. This Project is in cooperation with Globalfoundries, RaycyICs and the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems. The TU Dresden is part of the eleven German Excellence Initiative universities. The „Silicon Saxony“ in the local area of Dresden is the biggest micro­electronic centre in Europe.
Tasks: The main goal of the project is the design of a full transceiver system at 60 GHz with the methods of analog radio frequency circuit design. One of the most advanced CMOS processes with 22nm structure size will be used. In addition a broadband characterization of active and passive structures based on simulation, measurement and modelling has to be performed. All analog and mixed-signal circuits have to be verified by measurements. The gained research results have to be published and presented at international conferences. Requirements: Good to excellent university degree (Master or Diploma) in electrical, communications or information engineering; knowledge in circuit design; independent and flexible working attitude; innovative and analytical thinking; strong commitment; communicative team player; good English and scientific curiosity. Knowledge in the following areas is advantageous: integrated analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, radio frequency engineering, communication technology as well as measurement techniques. German language skills are helpful.
