The Molecular Pathology and Department of Translational Genomics in the research group of Prof. Dr. Martin Sos at the Uniklinik Köln is seeking applications for a part-time (65%)
PhD candidate/student
in the area of molecular cancer biology
to be employed under a limited-time contract until September 2017. The position is available immediately.
Our group offers the full spectrum of excitement and challenges that come along with the establishment of a new research lab; our projects are centered on computational analyses and complementary functional approaches to characterize molecular processes that modulate the response to cancer therapies. We employ state-of-the-art proteomic and genomic analyses to capture the cellular networks that govern these processes. A focus of our work is to combine molecular cell biology methods with computational biology. We aim to understand the dynamics of cellular signaling in the context of therapeutic efficacy of drugs that target specific cancer vulnerabilities. Our lab is currently growing to establish a rich cell biology, oncology, proteomics and genetics environment and make an impact on the development of novel cancer therapies.
We are looking for talented and highly motivated scientists driven by the desire to make a relevant contribution to the treatment of cancer patients by discovering significant findings in the lab. A profound knowledge of cancer cell biology, prior research experience and the ability to drive projects and a high degree of excitement are a must. The position requires a masters degree in a relevant field, such as cell biology or biochemistry. We offer a great environment within the lab, intensive mentoring and multiple interactions with global leaders, both from academia and industry.
Your salary will be based on TV-L.
The Board of Directors of the University Hospital of Cologne places strong emphasis on gender equality and seeks to increase the proportional representation of women in this field. We also welcome applications from disabled candidates, who will also be given preferential consideration over other applicants with comparable qualifications.
