The AG Molecular Cell Biology (Institute I of Anatomy) at the Uniklinik Köln is seeking applications for a
part-time (65% / 25.03 hours)
 
PhD student position
 
to be employed under a limited-time (3 years; starting Feb. 1st 2016)
 
The AG Molecular Cell Biology uses the model organisms Drosophila melanogaster (Prof. Dr. Wodarz) and Caenorhabditis elegans (Prof. Dr. Bossinger) to pursue basics questions in epithelial cell polarity concerning the assembly of intercellular contacts and the role of the cytoskeleton.  
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 
  • To work on a project that is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG; BO 1061/11-3) and focuses on the role of several newly identified genes that interfere with the function of the intermediate filament protein organizer IFO-1 in C. elegans.
 
Minimum qualifications:
 
  • A Masters’ or Diploma in Biological Science or related fields; experience with C. elegans genetics (SNP-mapping, whole genome sequencing, RNAi) and cell biology is desired but not essential
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Enthusiasm and motivation for research and science
 
Your salary will be based on TV-L E13.
