The 1st Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at the University Hospital Cologne is seeking applications for a
PhD-candidate position (65%)
antibiotic drug discovery and bacterial pathogenesis
to be employed under a limited-time until 31.12.2018 (WissZeitVG). The position is to be filled immediately.
Our Laboratory for Bacterial Pathogenesis and Antibiotic Drug Discovery will exploit drug screening approaches to understand host-pathogen interactions and virulence mechanism with a strong focus on therapeutic interventions.
Your responsibilities will include:
The appointee will apply a wide range of techniques in the field of molecular and cellular biology, antibiotic drug discovery, high throughput-screening and target identification.
Minimum qualifications:
The highly motivated candidate should have a strong background in microbiology/molecular biology. Skills in handling of BSL3 pathogens such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis are recommended but not mandatory. A good working knowledge of English is required.
Your salary will be based on TV-L E13 (65%).
