The Institute for Neurophysiology at the Uniklinik Köln is seeking applications for a part-time
Doctoral fellow in Stem Cell Research
to be employed under a limited-time contract from February 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2016.
The Institute for Neurophysiology is one of the leading Institutions in the field of stem cell research in Germany and is regarded as one of the Centres of excellence in stem cell research in Europe. Different groups at the Institute are focusing their research on understanding cellular, molecular and genetic properties of pluripotent stem cells and their differentiated derivatives, such as cardiac myocytes, neural cells and smooth muscle cells. The major interest is on exploring the utility of these cells as human cell based test systems for developmental toxicology and disease modelling. Special focus is given to translational research in the field of cardiac regeneration in small and large animal models of heart infarction. The current position is available for a highly motivated and creative scientist to study the inherited heart diseases using in vitro models based on human induced pluripotent stem cells.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • planning, carrying out and documenting experimental work,
  • collection, analysis and critical interpretation of research results,
  • preparation of periodic progress reports and publications,
  • coordination of the project with other team members and cooperation partners.
Minimum qualifications:
  • master degree in molecular and cellular biology and/or medicine,
  • strong theoretical and technical expertise in stem cell biology, especially in reprogramming and molecular cardiology
  • proven ability to plan and carry out the experiments independently,
  • ability to work in a team,
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • the successful candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English.
Your salary will be based on TV-L.
