The working group “Environmental epidemiology of lung, brain and skin aging” at the IUF - Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine in Düsseldorf is offering a
Postdoctoral (f/m) position.

Our group focuses on epidemiological aspects of air pollution-induced aging / chronic diseases of the lung, the brain and the skin. We are particularly interested in the complex interplay between these organs and in gene-environment interaction. These studies are of global relevance and conducted not only in Germany, but also in other European as well as Asian countries. The successful candidate (f/m) will be also responsible for the supervision of PhD- and master students, the organization of student practical courses, and the writing of research papers and grant applications.   

We offer a very friendly and inspiring working atmosphere in an interdisciplinary team consisting of epidemiologists and statisticians. The successful candidate (f/m) will be invited to join the institute’s structured postdoctoral program, which, besides the scientific training, will impart multiple skills necessary for the development of an independent research career. In addition, the candidate (f/m) will be encouraged to participate in local, national and international research consortia. Possibilities for further scientific training and postdoctoral lecture qualification (German: Habilitation) are given.

The successful applicant (f/m) holds a PhD degree in the field of life sciences, medicine, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics or equivalent and should have a strong interest in epidemiological research in general and environmental epidemiology in particular. You are a goal-oriented team player with excellent organizational and communication skills, including written and oral English. You have profound hands-on experience in statistical analysis and epidemiological techniques as well as substantial experience in working with statistical software (SAS or R). First experiences in supervising students are advantageous.

The position is limited at first for 2 years, prolongation is possible. The position can in principle be part-time, starting 01.01.2017. Salary will be according to TV-L (E13, 100%).
