PhD position
in the area of molecular cancer biology

are available immediately until July 2016.

Our group offers the full spectrum of excitement and challenges that come along with the establishment of a junior research lab; our projects are centered on functional understanding of molecular processes that modulate the response to cancer therapies. We employ cancer mass-spectrometry based proteomics and genome sequencing to capture the cellular networks that modulate these processes. A focus of our work is to combine computational biology as well as molecular cell biology methods. We aim to understand the dynamics of cellular signaling in the context of therapeutic efficacy of drugs that target specific cancer vulnerabilities. Our lab is currently growing to establish a rich cell biology, oncology, proteomics and genetics environment and make an impact on the development of novel cancer therapies.

We are looking for talented scientists driven by the desire to make a relevant contribution to the treatment of cancer patients by discovering significant findings in the lab. A profound knowledge of cancer cell biology, prior research experience and the ability to drive projects and a high degree of excitement are a must. The position requires a masters degree in a relevant field, such as cell biology or biochemistry. We offer a great environment within the lab, intensive mentoring and multiple interactions with global leaders, both from academia and industry.

The salary is based on the TV-L agreement E13 (60%).

The Board of Directors of the University Hospital of Cologne places strong emphasis on gender equality and seeks to increase the proportional representation of women in this field. Thus applications from female scientists are welcome; suitably qualified women will be given preferential consideration unless other candidates clearly demonstrate superior qualifications.

We also welcome applications from disabled candidates, who will also be given preferential consideration over other applicants with comparable qualifications.

The position is suitable for staffing with part-time employees.
