The research group “Comparative Genomics” headed by Prof. Dr. Anke Becker offers at the earliest possible time point the position of a
 
research assistant
(Ph.D.student)
 
in the area of RNA-biology of inflammation and infection. Salary will be according to German Public Service (TV-Hessen E13, 50 %). The position is fixed-term for 3 years.
The position will offer the possibility of further scientific qualification in the frame of the assigned duties.

We offer research training in a dynamic team embedded in the collaborative scientific environment of the new LOEWE research cluster “Medical RNomics” (Marburg, Giessen, Bad Nauheim, Frankfurt). Information can be found at www.i-lung.de/nwg.
Scientific services belong to the duties in research and teaching. The research work will focus on the investigation of non-coding RNAs (miRNA, lncRNA, sRNA) in bacterial infection, especially pneumonia and sepsis. Hence, innovative research concepts including sequencing and bioinformatics as well as animal-, cell culture-, and tissue models and investigation of human patient material can be applied. Research Facilities for sequencing, high-end-microscopy, small-animal-imaging, FACS-sorting, mass spectrometry and laboratory automation are available.

The successful candidate will hold an excellent University degree (Master/Diploma or equivalent) in life science or human medicine. Applicants are expected to have profound theoretical and practical experience in molecular biology and infection biology. Knowledge in RNA-based regulation, immunology and computational analysis of sequence data is desired. The ability to carry out research projects independently, very good English language skills, high motivation, flexibility and competence for teamwork are required.
