Terms:
The positions start presumably on 01.07.2016 and are fixed-term for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed-Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The positions offer the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. habilitation thesis).
Position
We are in process of building up a new junior research group “Graphene Center Dresden” (GRAPHD) consisting of a highly interdisciplinary team of young scientists with the long-term vision of developing materials for future electronic systems. Graphene and other 2D nanomaterials have emerged as outstanding candidates for a great number of electronic applications. The goal of this research is to synthesize graphene nanoribbons and related conjugated 2D organic materials bearing electronic functions. Within the junior research group, protocols will be established from synthesis towards commercialization.
The successful candidate will: design and synthesize graphene nanoribbons with novel edge structures; design and synthesize novel 2D organic materials with electronic functions, managing projects and guiding PhD students.
Requirements
We aim at attracting the best talents in the respective research fields and expect the following: university degree and PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering or similar (PhD degree must be gained after March 2012); previous experiences in organic or polymer synthesis, very good interpersonal and communication skills; in particular, the ability to effectively work in collaborative research efforts; an independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; strong motivation and interest to join one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary research clusters; fluency in English - written and oral.
