PhD position: Role of inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (at KI, Stockholm)

Diese Stellenanzeige ist abgelaufen. Finden Sie hier zahlreiche ähnliche Jobs.

We are looking for a PhD student for a project on anti-inflammatory cyclopentenones and HODEs in  inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, in the group of Prof. Dr. Per-Johan Jakobsson, in Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, starting May1st, 2015 or thereafter.

The project will investigate the biological role of 15dPGJ2 and other lipid derived electrophiles in animal and cellular models of inflammation, as well as in clinical (RA patient) material.
15dPGJ2 has been shown to suppress inflammation and promote resolution of inflammation in experimental models of arthritis and inflammation. Whether selective inhibitors of mPGES-1 represent a therapeutic approach controlling anti-inflammatory processes and supporting the pro-resolving capacity of the cells, thus balancing inflammation in RA, needs to be elucidated. New methods for detection and quantification of 15dPGJ2 bound to GSH and proteins in biological samples will  be established using an LC-MS approach.

The project is part of the Else Kröner-Fresensius Graduiertenkolleg “Eicosanoid and sphingolipid pathways in inflammation, cancer and vascular diseases” which is an international research training group at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and is funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung.  The academic goal is to train excellent graduate students for careers in molecular medicine, pharmacy and biology both in academia and industry.

Candidates should already possess a first class MSc (biology, pharmacy or related discipline) or an MD degree.  Applications consisting of a cover letter indicating why this particular project is of interest as well as a full curriculum vitae containing a brief summary of previous research projects, together with copies of all relevant university certificates should be sent by email to Dr. Brigitte Held (held@pharmchem.uni-frankfurt.de). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Please quote Ref.:  EKFGK-P9-2015
The application deadline is April 15th, 2015.

Stipends will be paid according to the rules of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
